History Of Make-up

The first evidence of make up being used is in ancient egypt in the year 4000 BC. Egyptians created  products by using dangerous materials mercury and white lead.
They also used khol which was used to outline the eyes, it is made of lead, copper, soot, burned almonds and some other ingredients.
They believed that eye make up would ward off evil spirits and improve the sight.
In Japan, Geisha's used lipstick made of crushed safflower petals to paint eyebrows and edges of eyes as well as lips.
Sticks of bintsuke was - a softer version of sumo wrestlers hair wax - was used as a make up base.
